BB eBooks Newsletter – January 11, 2013

Dear Friend,

For BB eBooks, last year we developed a foundation in the dynamic eBook business and became more equipped to service authors around the globe. We've helped small presses and authors out in six different continents (still waiting on you, Antarctica!) One thing that truly helped us expand our discoverability is preserving the open-mindedness to look for valuable information to benefit our clients.

Broadening Your Marketing Strategy

Last year, our blog covered the pros and cons of two marketing websites recommended by one of our dear authors: Best Indie Book Store and Kindle Daily Nation. Although nothing comes for free and your marketing decision is best left to your judgment, we hope you will choose the provider whose services meet your budget. Apart from reaching out to paid services, we also stress the importance of Google+ community pages that mushroomed to cater your creative needs and spread out the good word about your books. At the end of the day, you might want to leave your social media option open as much as possible to communicate with different groups of your target audience.

eBooks are for more than just Reading

While we are aware that eBooks are perfectly made for fiction authors, it is equally important to explore what digital publications can do to put corporate internal policies to good use. Beyond eBooks provides a general overview of how eBooks can be used for more than just novels. Why let Adobe's PDF format dominate your day-to-day operations at work? Being able to understand the storyline behind reflowable formats will familiarize authors with what’s going on with different e-Retailers. In the eBook store, there is a huge potential for non-fiction to penetrate the market since the lower cost of production and the reading flexibility will have allowed companies to best strategize their training documents to reach the wider audience inside and outside their organization.

Thailand eBook Market still Catching Up

Bangkok

The geographical existence of our company turned my attention back to the culture of reading in Thailand. One of the main reasons to divert our attention to the dwindling knowledge-seeking habit is the small percentage of Thais who ‘”flip pages.” The comparison of reading statistics with neighboring countries does not give a good impression of the way Thai treats books. Despite the unimpressive sales of Kindles locally, we strongly hope that the massive downloads of digital content will one day include eBooks’ growth.

Barnes & Noble in Serious Trouble

Looking across Pacific Ocean, Barnes and Noble tends is suffering badly from its closed ecosystem and distribution rights. In order to bring in more profits, it seems that the troubling bookstore reserves their shelf for the wrong products as customers voice their concerns. Running a physical store is not easy these days but walking away from one’s firm belief is like rubbing salt in one’s bleeding wound. Apparently, plummeting sales become cultural representative of the company’s year-end sales performance result.

The Shotgun Approach

Our most recent blog consequently proposes that open-mindedness is the focal theme to expand writing opportunities. Apart from inventing in fresh materials, authors might look into rekindling their long-lost passion in their favorite TV shows and many other inspirational sources. Read what Artemis Fowl’s author has to say about reimaging Doctor Who’s novel. Due to the fact that tablets are aplenty, perhaps optimizing your content to meet the hardware specification can unleash your creative aspiration and break into the new open market. Who knows? eBook “lines” might be a challenging platform for you to consider and prosper.

Thank you for your time. We promise to strive even harder this year to bring relevant information and great technical services to help you achieve your creative success.

Yours sincerely,

The BB eBooks Team
